Residential caravan, pitch

What is it?

If you have a caravan, it cannot be parked anywhere. The municipality has special sites for caravans. Ask the municipality where these sites are and whether you can park your caravan there. If you are assigned a pitch, you will need an environmental permit to put your caravan there.

How does it work?

For legal purposes, caravans are equivalent to permanent dwellings. Therefore, caravans must meet similar building requirements, such as:

  • The pitch must be connected to gas, water, light and telephone.
  • Residential trailers must be 5 meters apart.
  • A maximum of 1 person per 6 m2 may live in the trailer.

What to do.

  • If you want to be considered for a pitch, register with the municipality. You can also register with a housing association that rents caravans.
  • If you want to place your trailer on a pitch, apply for an environmental permit.
  • Ask the municipality if you also need to apply for a residential license and possibly a housing permit.
