General information about elections

In the Netherlands there are elections for municipal councils, Provincial Councils, Upper and Lower House, European Parliament and the Water Boards.

Any resident who is 18 years of age or older on the day of voting may vote. The condition is that the voter holds Dutch nationality and is not excluded from the right to vote. This does not apply to those eligible to vote in municipal and water board elections. If they meet the requirements, non-Dutch people may also vote.
