Statement of support for elections

A declaration of support is a written statement by an eligible voter supporting electoral participation by a party. To do this, you fill out a form at City Hall, showing your ID to an official.

Declarations of support can be made from Monday, September 25, 2023 through Monday, October 9, 2023.

Declarations of support are required as political parties:

  • participating in the election for the first time
  • Did not win a seat(s) in the previous House of Representatives election
  • participate with a blank list (without designation)

Who may sign statement of support

You can sign a declaration of support only if you are registered as an elector within the electoral district. Even if you are on a list yourself, you may sign a declaration of support, provided you are registered as an elector in the relevant constituency.

You sign the statement at the town hall of the municipality where you are registered. You are not allowed to sign more than one statement of support per person. You cannot withdraw your declaration of support.

You can find this in the Elections Act Section H4

To make statements of support, please make an appointment or stop by without an appointment during business hours.
