Declaration of support for elections

A declaration of support is a written statement from a voter who supports a party's participation in the election. To do this, you must fill out a form at the town hall and show your ID to a civil servant.

Declarations of support can be submitted from Monday, September 25, 2023, through Monday, October 9, 2023.

Declarations of support are required if political parties:

  • participate in the election for the first time
  • did not win any seats in the previous House of Representatives election
  • participate with a blank list (without indication)

Who is authorized to sign a declaration of support?

You can only submit a declaration of support if you are registered as a voter in the electoral district. Even if you are on a list yourself, you may sign a declaration of support, provided that you are registered as a voter in the relevant electoral district.

You sign the declaration at the town hall of the municipality where you are registered. You are not allowed to sign more than one declaration of support per person. You cannot withdraw your declaration of support.

This can be found in theElections Act, Article H4.

To submit declarations of support, you can make an appointment or visit during opening hours without an appointment.
