Passport with sticky sidebar
Do you want to travel outside Europe or do you need proof of identity? Then you can apply for a passport at the municipality of Sloterburg . A passport is an official travel document that allows you to travel worldwide. It is also a valid proof of identity within the Netherlands.
How do you apply for a passport?
You can apply for a passport in person at the Sloterburg Town Hall. You can easily make an appointment via our website or by calling the Customer Contact Center. You must be present at the application, also for children under the age of 18. This is mandatory because of the identity check and fingerprinting (from 12 years of age). At your appointment, bring a good-looking passport photo that meets the national passport photo requirements, your current passport or identity card, and, if applicable, a consent form from both parents for minor applicants. After your application, it takes about five business days for the passport to be ready for pickup. Pickup can be done without an appointment, but must be done within three months or the document will expire.
What does a passport cost?
The cost of a passport is set annually at the national level. For Sloterburg residents, the cost in 2025 is €83.85 for adults 18 years and older. A lower rate of €63.40 applies to children under 18. These rates include fees and administration costs. When applying, you pay directly, this can be done by debit card or cash. If you need your passport faster, an urgent procedure is possible. This incurs additional costs: an urgent application usually costs an additional €57.05 on top of the regular fee. There is no additional charge for a missing or stolen passport, but you will have to fill out a declaration of missing.
How long is a passport valid?
An adult passport is valid for 10 years. For children under 18, the passport is valid for five years. It is important to check the validity of your passport well in advance of planning a trip. After the passport expires, you must apply for a new document; renewal is not possible. Keep your expired passport well: in some cases it can be useful as proof of previous identities or travel.
