Birth, marriage, and death

Birth is the moment when a child is born and the beginning of his or her life as an individual. Marriage is a legal and social union between two people who have decided to live together and start a family. Death is the moment when someone passes away and the end of his or her life. These events are important moments in a person's life and are often celebrated or commemorated with family and friends.

  • Choosing a surname for your child

  • Burial or cremation

    You need permission from the municipality to bury or cremate a loved one. Your funeral director will usually arrange this for you.

  • Birth registration

    Have you had a baby? Congratulations! Report this to the municipality within 3 days of the birth.

  • Death, notification

    Someone has passed away. This must be reported to the municipality. Usually, your funeral director will do this.
