Passport, driver's license or ID card

A passport, driver's license and ID card are all three official identity documents used to confirm a person's identity.

  • A passport is an internationally recognized document used for travel to foreign countries. It contains information about the holder, such as name, photograph, date of birth and nationality.
  • A driver's license is a document that proves a person is authorized to drive a motor vehicle. It contains information about the holder, such as name, photograph, date of birth, address and driving privileges.
  • An ID card is a nationally recognized document used to prove a person's identity within the country. It contains information about the holder, such as name, photograph, date of birth and address.

In some countries, a combination of these documents is used to confirm a person's identity, while in others, one is sufficient.
