Splitting a home

What is it?

As a homeowner, you can divide your property. This allows you to convert the space into multiple apartments. If you wish to do so, you will need a permit from the municipality.

How does it work?

The municipality determines whether you may divide your home. In doing so, it takes the following into account:

  • the distribution of living space in the municipality
  • Splitting up the property should not stand in the way of urban renewal.
  • whether the property is suitable for division

What should I do?

  • You apply for the permit at the municipality.
  • Sometimes you also need an environmental permit. For example, if you are going to renovate.
