Extract from BRP

What is it?

The Basisregistratie Personen (BRP) contains data on everyone who lives or has lived in the Netherlands.

The extract will include at least your:

  • name
  • address
  • residence
  • date of birth

What to do.

You can request an extract of personal data BRP for:

  • yourself
  • your child living with you who is under 16 years of age
  • For someone else, if that person has authorized you to do so

You request your extract from the BRP from the municipality. There are several ways to do this.

Apply online

Request your BRP extract online. To do this, you will need the following items:

  • your DigiD. Don't have a DigiD yet? Then apply for one via DigiD.nl. You will receive the DigiD log-in code within a few days.
  • internet banking data

Written request

Send the following items to the municipality:

  • letter stating why you need the extract
  • your signature on the letter
  • A copy of your valid ID

Personal request

Bring the following items with you to the municipal office:

  • your valid ID
  • debit card or cash

Authorize someone

Would you like to authorize someone to request your BRP extract? Then write a letter containing the following information:

  • the reason why you need the extract
  • name of agent
  • your signature
  • signature of authorized person

The authorized representative applies for your BRP extract in person at the municipal office. For this, the authorized representative brings the following documents:

  • valid proof of identity of the authorized person
  • (copy of) your valid proof of identity
  • the signed authorization letter

Requesting an extract from the Non-Resident Registration (RNI)

  • Do you live abroad? Or are you no longer registered with a Dutch municipality? If so, your personal data are listed in the Non-Residents Registration (RNI).
  • You can request an RNI extract from one of the RNI counter municipalities. You can get this document in several languages.

How long does it take?

  • Do you request your extract online or in writing? Then the municipality will send it to you by mail.
  • Do you request your extract in person at the municipal office? Then you will receive it immediately. This also applies if you authorize someone.
