Platform for and by young people

We are a group of young people from Sloterburg want to do something for other young people. We saw that our neighborhood was undergoing major changes, but felt that our peers lacked a voice. We hope to make the neighborhood more enjoyable for young people and to organize events in the future. There are currently three of us, so... if you'd like to contribute your thoughts on things like nightlife or social issues, feel free to send us a message! This youth initiative, which has been welcomed by the municipal council, is the result of a number of discussions between young people and Alderman Griet de Laat (responsible for youth affairs). Initially, the idea was to set up a youth council, but this proved unfeasible.

Alderman Griet de Laat shares the enthusiasm of the young people. "I think it's great and wholeheartedly welcome this initiative. This way, we (i.e., the municipality and young people) can quickly switch gears, exchange ideas, share plans, and ask/answer each other's questions. I wish them every success and sincerely hope that many young people (roughly between the ages of 15 and 18) will join in."
