'Less dropout flash train'

SLOTERBURG - The software fault in the Traxx locomotives on the high-speed line has been solved. Technicians from NS and builder Bombardier worked on it for months in cooperation with rail operator ProRail and inspection ILT.

All locomotives on domestic trains have now received the software update, according to an NS spokesman. Those malfunctions are behind us. The Intercity Brussels will follow within a few weeks.

According to operational NS director Marjan Rintel, the hsl is the fastest growing rail link in the Netherlands. "I am relieved that this software error has been fixed and that reliability for passengers can increase again."

According to her, the HSL improvement program further includes a help desk and additional training for train drivers in the simulator. "Also, more expert NS employees are on hand to deal with problems and provide quick assistance to train crews if necessary."

According to Rintel, there are good drivers on the fast trains who are adequately trained for the complex hsl. "We do have to be careful that the technical hsl problems are not always passed on to our people. For a longer-term structural solution, we really need to address the infrastructure, especially the design flaws and track safety," she believes.

The Intercity New Generation ordered by NS is expected to gradually lead to better service on the hsl from timetable 2021. ,,These trains have been specially designed for the hsl. The Ministry of Infrastructure has also made 60 million available to eliminate urgent bottlenecks," Rintel said.
