Royal honors for two special residents of Blaricum

This year, two residents of the municipality of Blaricum were honored during the annual awards ceremony. On Friday, April 25, Mayor Barbara de Reijke presented the Royal Honors to Ms. Staal-Sas and Mr. Oort.
Mrs. Staal-Stas
Ms. Staal-Sas has been appointed Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau, particularly for her dedication to people with cancer and their loved ones who are struggling with psychological issues caused by this disease.
She has been working for various agencies and organizations in the Netherlands for 24 years.
- She was one of the founders of the Hospice in Houten.
- Her fundraising efforts for the Wilhelmina Children's Hospitalmade it possible to expand the intensive care unit, among other things.
- And as a board member of the Friends of Abrona Foundation, she played a key role in improving the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities.
- For soccer club FC Utrecht , she organized fundraising activities, which included collecting money to enable disadvantaged children to participate in sports.
Ms. Staal-Sas has been committed to the Helen Dowling Institute, a national healthcare institution that provides psychological care to people affected by cancer, for 18 years. She is involved as a fundraiser and ambassador. Thanks in part to her dedication, the institute has been able to develop into a leading healthcare institution. Her work has led to, among other things, the construction of the institute's new building and the annual benefit gala.
Mr. Oort
Mr. Oort has been appointed Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau. He has been volunteering for various associations and organizations in Blaricum for 50 years. He brought energy, enthusiasm, and a unifying force that strengthened the organizations and inspired others.
He has been active in the Reformed Village Church since 1975 and later in the Protestant Congregation of Blaricum.
- He was involved in the establishment and functioning of the congregation in roles such as church warden and clerk.
- He has also been active for many years in the sports and gymnastics club Vlugheid en Kracht (SGV).
- During his time as president of the Intruder Owners Club Holland motorcycle club, it grew into an active and vibrant motorcycle club, known for its well-organized events.
- Mr. Oort has also made a significant contribution in his professional life. In his roles at Phillips and Samsung, he contributed to the further development of mobile telephony. For this, he received the Appointment to DM+S Global 5ESS ® 2000, a prestigious international award in his field.
