A place for Tiny Houses in Sloterburg

Tiny houses are small, mobile homes known for their minimalist lifestyle and efficient use of space. They are usually less than 400 square feet and are designed to offer a simpler and more sustainable life.
The municipal council is willing to cooperate in the realization of approximately seven Tiny Houses on the Slotstraat/Slotweg plot. This brings the fulfillment of a long-cherished wish of Emiel van der Paal from Sloterburg big step closer. Alderman Karel van Sloten considers the placement of Tiny Houses a win-win situation. "Because it fits in with our sustainability objectives and provides housing for first-time buyers." Incidentally, there are no plans to remove the recreational function of the current playing field. A meeting for local residents will be organized in the near future.
Tiny Houses
Anyone who follows the news about Tiny Houses will naturally conclude that this 'movement' is rapidly gaining momentum in the Netherlands. These are people who – whether out of pure necessity or idealism – want to live differently than in a standard terraced house. Under the motto 'less house, more life', they live in a small house with a living area of no more than 50 m2.
The homes are energy neutral and in some cases even generate more energy than they consume. The choice for this alternative form of housing is not only motivated by the desire to live in smaller and cheaper homes. Residents of Tiny Houses often also value the 'community feeling'.
Initiative
The plan to Sloterburg Tiny Houses in Sloterburg was conceived by local resident Emiel van der Paal. "As a first-time buyer, it was difficult for me to find suitable housing," he says, explaining the motivation behind his initiative.
The arrival of Tiny Houses will certainly not be at the expense of the location's recreational function. Karel van Sloten: "The one does not exclude the other. We definitely see opportunities to combine the placement of Tiny Houses with a fun playground."
Meeting
This morning, local residents were informed of the municipality's plans by letter. A meeting will be organized in the near future for local residents, the initiator, and the architect. During this meeting, information will be exchanged and possibilities for redesigning the location will be explored. The mayor and aldermen will then make a final decision.
